Tenerife.reviews is a curated local guide focused on showcasing the best of Tenerife through carefully selected places and experiences. The project was developed as an experimental concept in collaboration with Angelika Ponamareva, a graphic designer from Russia. The scope included website concept development, UX and UI design, content structure, and visual identity. The goal was to create a flexible platform that blends a blog and a directory while avoiding the clutter and complexity typical of traditional listing websites. The outcome is a minimalistic, visually engaging website designed to grow and adapt over time.
Summary
This project was created to offer a fresh alternative to standard travel directories by focusing on quality over quantity. Tenerife.reviews highlights selected places to eat, stay, rent, and explore, presenting them in a curated and easy to navigate format. From the start, the website was designed to feel more like a modern editorial platform rather than a traditional directory, allowing visitors to discover recommendations naturally.
What makes this project significant is its flexible and scalable structure. Developed as an experimental concept, the platform can easily adapt to changing content needs and future monetization options. Design played a key role, with a color palette and layout inspired by the Tenerife atmosphere. By combining strong visual identity with a simplified navigation system, the project delivers an engaging user experience with strong potential for long term growth.
Challenge
The main challenge was finding the right balance between inspiration and usability. Traditional travel directories often overwhelm users with filters, categories, and excessive listings, which can make discovery feel tiring rather than enjoyable. We wanted to avoid this approach and instead create a focused experience that highlights only the most relevant categories without limiting future expansion.
Another challenge was building a structure flexible enough to function as both a blog and a directory. The website needed to support editorial style content while still allowing users to quickly find practical information. Ensuring clarity, simplicity, and scalability at the same time required careful planning of content hierarchy and navigation flow.
Solutions
We approached the project by narrowing navigation to a small set of core categories and designing the website around curated content rather than exhaustive listings. This allowed us to create a clean and intuitive browsing experience where users can explore Tenerife without friction. The mix of blog style storytelling and directory elements gives the platform a distinctive identity that feels both informative and inspiring.
Visually, the design uses minimal layouts and a color palette that complements the natural and relaxed vibe of Tenerife. The collaboration with a dedicated graphic designer helped ensure strong visual consistency throughout the site. The final result is a lightweight, easy to navigate website with a strong foundation and clear potential to expand into a larger travel platform over time.
